Mission accomplished

So, after more than three years of work with collaborators from around the world, the Proverbs Project is proud to answer resolutely “yes” to its fundamental question.

Six of the world’s most spoken language – Englisn, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi and Kiswahali – do have an equivalent proverb, expressing the same wisdom in those of the 53 randomly selected Spanish proverbs.

Thus, one can strongly argue proverbs seem to transcend geography, culture and language. Around 2.7 billion people or 34% of the world’s population use similar proverbs to convey a common, one could say, universal perspective on human actions and events.

Now it’s your turn to help make our project collective and collaborative!

We would like you to become part of an engaging community dedicated to exploring the anthro-linguistic significance of proverbs and how they reflect the common values and beliefs of billions of people around the globe.
